No Knead Bread ( no bread maker needed)

Introduction

An easy and adaptable bread recipe that you can make overnight with a dutch oven and a few ingredients.

Only three ingredients and warm water required. Add nuts, seeds, or raisins to your batch. Prepare ingredients the night before and let the dough sit covered, overnight, if you’d like fresh, warm bread in the morning.

No need to buy store-bought bread, and only wholesome, natural ingredients used.

Affordable Easy Vegetarian Vegan

PREP TIME: 10 mins
COOK TIME: 60 mins
COOLING TIME: 5 mins

METHOD

  1. Prepare the mixture in the evening:

    Mix flour, salt, dry yeast and flaxseeds (if used) in a large bowl

  2. Add 1.5 cups warm water

  3. Mix with a spoon until the mixture is clumpy and sticky

  4. Cover mixture with a large plate, lid or towel overnight.

  5. Bake next morning:

    Place a dutch oven in the oven, with lid

    Preheat oven to 450 F with the dutch oven inside.

  6. Cover your hands with some flour

  7. Take the dough and fold it over a few times. It will become a ball of dough. Place on parchment paper.

  8. When the oven is heated, remove the dutch oven and carefully open the lid.

  9. Hold the parchment paper at the ends and place it with the ball of dough into the dutch oven.

  10. If you would like, sprinkle a little flour on tope of the dough and cut two parallel lines into the top of the dough with a knife

  11. Cover with lid and place in the oven

  12. Bake for 45 mins covered

  13. Then remove lid and bake for another 15 mins.

  14. Remove and let cool 5 mins.

INGREDIENTS

Servings 4-6

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1.5 teaspoons salt

  • 1.5 teaspoons dry yeast (or .75 teaspoons of quick-rise yeast)

  • 1.5 cups warm water (not hot, just warm)

  • 2 tablespoons flaxseeds (optional)

 

TIPS

After the bread has been in the oven and you remove the dutch oven and open the lid be careful, as the lid will be super-hot!

Experiment: Add nuts and seeds to your mix.
